!NABA Food and Wine Festival: The Finest Gourmet Event in the Kalahari

 

 

The !NABA Food and Wine Festival, a gourmet occasion held in Upington in the Northern Cape, celebrates its third year in showcasing local, quality products from the region, taking place from the 4th – 6th of August 2016 at the Upington Expo Grounds.

 

As the first, and only, food and wine show in the Northern Cape hosted in Upington, the! NABA Food and Wine Festival captures the very essence of quality and refinement.  A ‘! Naba’, or Kalahari truffle, is a potato-like delicacy with intricate flavouring and is a well-suited name to the Festival’s overall quintessence: local talent at its highest quality.

 

Visitors to the !NABA Food and Wine Festival can expect to be treated to multi-layered culinary delights, local and national wines, craft beers, liqueurs, food & food related products, demonstrations and live entertainment to showcase the Green Kalahari as one of the world’s premier food and wine destinations.

 

On the 4th of August, visitors can enjoy the opening function which will include a wine pairing, followed by the main events which will be held on the 5th and 6th of August. The Festival is the ideal foodie haven for visitors from across the country, and world, that love to cook, are health conscious, are passionate about good food and wine, enjoy exploring new cuisines, and are interested in learning about new trends.

Amongst the favourites that will participate in the !NABA Food and Wine Festival 2016 are Orange River Cellars, Vrouenspan Kase, Diamond T Coffeeshop, Delheim Wines, Cederberg Wines, Alto Rouge, Zonnebloem, Gonedsa with Dutch Cheese , Scandalous Foodtruck, Stickman Brewery, New Beginnings Toffees, The Private Hotel School Stellenbosch and many more.

 

The Festival provides the perfect platform for exhibitors to connect with new customers, generate brand awareness to consumers and local restaurants and guesthouses, and, ultimately, launch their products to a passionate and curious audience.

 

Sonja Stolper, Festival Organiser, says “The !NABA Food and Wine Festival, which launched in 2014, has fast become the ideal platform to reach a relatively untapped market that is hungry for new ideas and new products. The Festival is set to become the major annual event in the Northern Cape.”

Tickets are available to purchase from the 20th of May 2016 on Webtickets at R 120.00 for adults, which includes a wine glass for the various tastings, a magazine and tasting coupons for the different stalls. Tickets are R 60.00 for children between the ages of 7 and 16, and free entrance to pre-schoolers.

 

THE !NABA FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL 2016 EVENTS

 

Thursday, the 4th of August:

On Thursday, the 4th of August, the !NABA Food and Wine Festival will host a pairing event, which serves as the opening function for the Festival.

  • The pairing will take place at 18h30 for 19h00, in the main social tent, at the !NABA Food and Wine Festival – Upington Expo Grounds.
  • Only a 100 tickets, at R 250.00 per person, are available for this pairing event.
  • The tickets are available to purchase through the !NABA Food and Wine Festival Office
  • The tickets include a pairing of eight different wines, whiskeys, liquors and beers, entertainment provided by Tobie Jooste and a delicious snack platter for each guest.

Friday and Saturday, the 5th and 6th of August:

The official !NABA Food and Wine Festival will open from 12h00 – 20h00 on Friday, the 5th of August, and from 10h00 – 19h00 on Saturday, the 6th of August.  Visitors will be treated to exhibitions with top quality products, braai competitions, as well as demonstrations.  Entertainment for young and old will be provided, as well as a new Whiskey and Cigar Lounge.
