Are you LANCEWOOD®’S new Cake-Off® Baker?

Following the success of the first Cake-Off® in 2016, LANCEWOOD® is looking to up its game – encouraging the country’s home-baking crème de la crème to enter their tastiest and most creative sweet or savoury recipes using at least one LANCEWOOD® product. So, whether you think your carrot cake with cream cheese icing has what it takes, or you bake a mean onion, cheddar cheese and rosemary Ottolenghi, LANCEWOOD® wants to see it.

Recipe submissions opened on Monday, 23 April and will run for four weeks (closing on Sunday, 20 May 2018). Ambitious cake-makers can upload their culinary creations to the LANCEWOOD Cake-Off® website, including a picture of their cake alongside the LANCEWOOD® product used in the recipe.

Then, it’s over to the public, who will have the chance to vote for their favourite recipe until Sunday, 3 June. The three entries with the most votes will take part in a head-to-head cake-off, live on The Expresso Show on Thursday, 28 June.

Tasked with the difficult final decision are Cake-Off® mentors and celebrity judges: vivacious culinary queen, Lorna Maseko; best-selling cookbook author and popular TV chef, Zola Nene; and restauranteur and award-winning musician, J’Something. The astute celebrity judges will base their decision on appearance, creativity and (of course) taste.

Reigning Cake-Off® winner, Lizelle Solomon, only found out about the competition on the very last day entries were open last season. “I entered with a summer berry swirl cheesecake. It was my third ever attempt at making a cheesecake,” says Lizelle. Her ‘by chance’ entry, and subsequent win, has completely changed her life. Lizelle has opened her own studio, Le Petit Artisan, and has had the opportunity to travel the world and experiment with different tastes and textures.

Out-baking Lizelle won’t be easy but the Cake-Off® team are excited to pose the challenge – do you have the tastiest, most delicious recipe tucked away in a family cookbook? Enter this year’s LANCEWOOD Cake-Off® by uploading your creation to
