#GoToTown – Absa Joburg City Festival

Hey guys, I’ve been busy.  I’ve developed recipes for a major brand and this week we’ve been working on some styled professional images.   I can’t wait to share the recipes with you but in the meantime Joburgers have an exciting festival going on this weekend……

The Absa Joburg City Festival is an initiative of the Joburg City Tourism Association (JCTA), a voluntary group of businesses and organisations committed to growing the inner city’s tourism industry. The first Joburg City Festival took place in 2013.  The festival includes a wealth of top entertainment in the heart of Joburg City.  It includes live music, theatre, comedy, food & wine, films, fashion, rugby, beer, braais, visual arts, tours and a whole lot more….Check out the featured video.

The Festival programme covers 11 inner city hubs, namely Absa Campus, Braamfontein, Constitution Hill, the Fashion District, Ferreirastown (Western Edge), Fordsburg, Maboneng, Marshalltown (Corporate Mining District), Milpark, Newtown and Fordsburg . Absa Campus and Newtown Junction will be focal points in terms of events and logistics.

All the Absa Joburg City Festival venues are easily accessible by means of a world-class public transport system, made possible by the Gautrain and Rea Vaya.  In addition, there will be park-and-ride facilities from central nodes, such as Constitution Hill, Milpark and Newtown Junction.

In a ticketing first for South Africa, and to encourage attendance at as many events as possible, a sliding scale applies, whereby the more tickets you buy, the less you pay.  Have a look at some of the food and drink specials available during the festival:
